As official sponsors of the European ATCA Summit, Advantech today announced its Blade Computing Division will be showcasing its latest technology introductions at the show.
August 31, 2007, Taipei - Advantech will present and showcase the latest design expertise on CompactPCI, MicroTCA and ATCA in AdvancedTCA Summit Europe on September 18-19,2007. The event will mark the international emergence of AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA as standard platforms for communications equipment. The inaugural European summit will be held at the Disney Newport Bay Club near Paris.
Advantech offers standard products and a range of innovative customization services that are specifically targeted at Telecommunications Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs). Its Design To Order Services (DTOS) team partners with TEMs to evaluate project requirements and develop TEM-specific solutions in order to improve overall operating costs. The products summarized below represent the latest additions to the product range.
The UTCA-5503 MicroTCA™ Carrier Hub (MCH) combines control and management infrastructure with the interconnect fabric resources necessary to support up to twelve AMCs in a MicroTCA shelf. It switches the Primary Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) fabric on Common Options Fabric A and provides MicroTCA Carrier Management Controller (MCMC) functions to configure and control the elements. In its basic configuration, the MCH acts as the Gigabit Ethernet hub of a star network, providing centralized switching and high-speed connectivity to each AMC. The UTCA-5503 provides extension connectors between PCB1, 2 and 3 for enhanced processing functions like Level 2/3 switch management; authentication and encryption; TPM for server/cluster security; or remote management such as HPI over IP tunneling. It can also provide PCB3 switching for PCIe®, SRIO, GbE or 10GbE fat pipes. A PCB2 module can be added for clock distribution and external clock connectivity. The front panel design offers flexibility for clock, I/O andalarm panel requirements.
The MIC-5601 Processor AMC is a highly integrated single-width, mid-size processor AMC based on the low-power, high-performance Intel® Celeron® M ULV and Pentium® M LV processors and Intel 3100 chipset. The board includes 1 or 2 GB of soldered DDR2 400 MHz memory with ECC for higher MTBF and optimum cooling. The MIC-5601 maximizes on AMC edge connector connectivity for the best design flexibility. When redundancy or two separate interconnects are required, the board can be configured with two PCI Express® x4 ports; or when throughput is essential a single PCI Express x8 port. Two gigabit Ethernet ports provide AMC.2 compliance and offer control and data plane connectivity to facilitate the migration of existing applications. Both ports connect to the 3100 chipset via PCI Express for maximum data throughput. Dual SATA interfaces provide AMC.3–compliant storage and two USB ports offer further connectivity opportunities. Additional features such as serial over LAN and optional Trusted Platform Management support provide mechanisms by which to satisfy state-of-the-art remote management and security requirements.
The MIC-5301 single-slot AdvancedTCA® processor blade combines computing performance with I/O flexibility in a power efficient quad core, dual AdvancedMC™ design. Featuring two high performance Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® LV processors, the MIC-5301 facilitates the consolidation of multiple single core designs and frees up valuable system slots for increased processing power or I/O connectivity. The MIC-5301’s overall design flexibility positions it for use as a common processing blade for multiple applications. Architecture reuse leads to increased economies of scale, so the MIC-5301 is ideally suited for a wide range of application processing needs. The MIC-5301 is an example where provencore engineering IP is reused as a base for a TEM specific design.
The MIC-3392 CompactPCI® blade leverages the high performance of Intel® Core™ 2 Duo and Core Duo processors. The blade supports the top-end T7400 Core 2 Duo processor as well as the low voltage L7400 version. Designed with low-power and high performance features in mind, the MIC-3392 is the perfect way to upgrade earlier generation Pentium blades without changing the basicchassis infrastructure.
